Another year over.

Well thats it then, goodbye 2011, almost hello to 2012.

I’ve ben thinking today about this past year.
I feel to be in the same place l was last year but as l thought about it quite a few things have happened this year.

We got Sox.

Sox has got bigger.

He is 11 months old today.

We got rid of the chickens in July. Sox just wouldn’t leave them alone when they were free ranging in the garden and it seemed a shame to keep them in the run. I miss them but l know we made the right decision for them.

I turned 40 in June.

I have also learnt loads in my crafting.

I’ve done lots of knitting.

I’ve done lots of crochet.

Abit of spinning.

Some embroidery.

I’ve done quite abit of sewing and discovered a love of patchwork quilting.

I’ve learnt lots of new skills and techniques.

Learnt that l really do like using dpn’s for sock knitting. I’ve decided to try to use them more instead of the small 12″ circular l prefer. I currently have 2 pairs on dpn’s.

I’ve learnt that measuring really is important for patchwork and hiw to use interfacing.

I’ve learnt that sewing really isn’t scary and that stitch unpickers can be my friend.

I have alot more l’d like to learn next year and a new friend to learn with ——

My new sewing machine my lovely husband bought ne yesterday for Christmas.

Its more expensive than l wanted it to be but it came with a free quilting accessory box including feet.

If we’d have bought the cheaper machine l’d have had to buy the feet seperately which would have worked out more.

Look at all these stitches.

Its fantastic.

I’ve managed to have a little play on it and have decided l should probably make another quilt from 6″ squares and practice before l try to be clever.

So that was 2011.

What will 2012 bring?

I don’t make resolutions as then l feel guilty when l break them.

Instead l would like to bring some order to my life, l want my pre Christmas routine back.

I’d like to eat healthier and try new recipes.

Bake more at home.

Grow my own veg again, didn’t do any last year because of Sox.

Stop smoking – again. I started again in March after 10 months smoke free. I will try again next year but not right away.

I will also try to uodate my blog more often. I am going to try for Monday, Wednesday and Friday so let me know if it gets boring.

All thats left is to say Thankyou for reading my blog and a happy New Year to you all.
